IEEC Goes to Scandia! Deadline to Sign Up is This Week!

Come out and finish off your week with some fun mini-golf and games or rides with your fellow international students at Scandia in Rohnert Park! We will meet at the flagpole and carpool over to Scandia on November 7 at 5:00 p.m. Drivers needed! At Scandia, you can participate in tons of fun events such as miniature golf, video games in the arcade, fun rides, and even BATTING PRACTICE with Marisa Thigpen herself! Please be sure to sign up and pay for this event BY THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31 in Salazar 1070! We hope you come and join us for a fun evening to unwind after a long week of school! Come enjoy the beautiful stars of Sonoma’s night sky! SSU’s Department of Physics & Astronomy welcomes YOU to their Public Viewing Nights at the SSU Observatory. IEEC will be visiting Nov. 8th. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and warm clothing and bring a flashlight. The SSU Observatory is located at an outbuilding in the southeast corner of the campus within Seawolf Stadium. http://www.sonoma.edu/maps/. Are you a member of a SSU Clubs, Organizations, or Academic Departments? We are excited for our biggest week of the year IEW (International Educational Week) It is a week full of fun events and we hope you can join us and participate as well. If your club or organization will like to participate by putting on an event during that week we would like you to fill out the 2013 IEW Event Proposal Form where you can provide us with information of your event. Study Abroad and NSE Information Meetings are continuing! Join us!
Are you interested in studying away? It’s never to early to start thinking about and preparing for education exchange! Picture yourself in France, Hawaii, Mexico, New York, or Japan! For information on how you can have the best experience of your life, come into International Services to sign up for an Information Meeting! Application Workshops Have Begun!
CSU IP Application Workshops will begin the week of October 14th and run through the middle of December. You must have attended the Information Meeting FIRST to be eligible to attend the Application Workshop. Advanced Sign-Up required. Please call (707) 664-2582 or stop by International Services to sign-up. In general workshops will be held Monday 4:00 – 5:00PM, Tuesday 3:00 – 4:00PM, Wednesday 12:00 – 1:00PM, and on certain Fridays at 12:00 – 1:00PM. The Goethe-Institute is looking to hire a German exchange student for their cross-cultural ambassador program! Are you interested in working, interning, volunteering, or teaching abroad? International Services has hired someone to help you! Come in and visit the WIVA Grad Assistant to find out how you can get abroad. The opportunities are endless and there for you to take! Volunteer Abroad in Africa!
Want to get involved with a volunteer opportunity in Africa this summer? The nonprofit organization One Heart Source is accepting applications on a rolling basis until all positions are filled for programs that are 4-weeks and 6-weeks long. Live abroad with a host family and teach in the local school of the village in which you’ll be living. It is a great way to accumulate international volunteer experience as well as participate in a cause that changes lives of little ones.

Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET)
If you are interested in Teaching English overseas when you graduate, check out the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET)! JET has been around for almost 30 years, is supported through the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is one of the most respected Teaching Programs around. Come join IEEC play Laser Tag at Escape! 10$ for Escape Laser Tag t-shirt and two games! What is Laser Tag?… Laser tag is a team or individual sport or recreational activity where players attempt to score points by tagging targets, typically with a hand-held infrared-emitting targeting device. Infrared-sensitive targets are commonly worn by each player and are sometimes integrated within the arena in which the game is played. IEEC Goes to Warriors vs. Trailblazers Game

NO MORE SPACE! On November 23 IEEC is going to see the Bay Area’s own Golden State Warriors take on the Portland Trailblazers! They will watch the Bay Area’s star point guard, Stephen Curry, in a showdown against Oakland’s own Damien Lillard.
