Welcome to Sonoma State University! Let’s go Seawolves! Please join us in welcoming our new international and domestic exchange students at the Welcome Reception on Wednesday January 29th!! We will have FREE food and it’s a great way to meet new people! (For students who are applying to study away, this is a great chance to connect with students who have studied or are from where you want to go!) Come on over and you will have an awesome time! The fun starts at 2pm and ends at 5pm. We will be holding the event in the International Services Office in Salazar 1070. Come welcome all the new NSE and International students to SSU! CSU International Programs (IP) Now What?! Workshops!
Remember if you are applying for CSU International Programs to sign up for a Now What?! workshop! This is a mandatory meeting and will give you information on what the next steps are for CSU IP program. Please stop by International Services or call our front desk at (707) 664-2582 to sign up.
STUDY ABROAD & NATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE
NSE Application Workshops Are Starting Up!
National Student Exchange Application Workshops will begin the week of January 27 and run through the end of February. You must have attended the Information Meeting FIRST to be eligible to attend the Application Workshop. Advanced sign-up required. Please call (707) 664-2582 or stop by International Services to sign-up. Meetings are Mondays 2:00 – 3:00 PM and Wednesdays 1:00 – 2:00 PM, with a few additional meetings times. NSE Domestic and Study Abroad Deadlines
NSE offers study opportunities at diverse university settings and provides access to a wide array of courses and programs; field experiences, co-op, and internship options; and resident assistant, honors, and study abroad opportunities of its member campuses. There are over 200 campuses available in the United States and there are countless universities in many different countries around the world. The Fall 2014 priority deadline for NSE Domestic and NSE Study abroad is February 15th with a final deadline of March 1st. CSU IP Deadlines and Late Applications
Still want to go abroad through CSU IP? Want to go in Fall 2014? It’s not too late! There are locations where late/appeal applications are going to be accepted for the Fall 2014 semester. Here are the countries that will have space for Late/Appeal applications due March 15th:
3) France (all programs)
4) Germany (all programs)
6) Italy (all programs)
8) Spain (Madrid and Granada only)
The Spring 2015 priority deadline for CSU IP Australia and South Africa is April 15th and a final deadline of May 1st. For more information please stop by International Services or call the front desk at (707) 664-2582.
Study Abroad and NSE Informational Meetings
Are you interested in studying away from Sonoma State in the future? Come to an informational meeting to learn everything you need to know! The first step for any program is attending one of our Study Abroad & NSE Information Meetings. We hold information meetings three times each week at various times. You can call the number below or stop by International Services in Salazar 1070 across from Seawolf Services to sign-up. Advanced sign-up is required!
They are offered every week at the following times in Salazar 1070:

Fulbright Canada Killam Scholarship
Are you studying abroad in Canada next semester or year? Then be sure to apply to the Fulbright Canada Killam Scholarship due January 31st, 2014. WORK, INTERN, VOLUNTEER ABROAD (WIVA)
Are you interested in working, interning, volunteering, or teaching abroad? International Services has hired someone to help you! Come in and visit the WIVA Grad Assistant to find out how you can get abroad. The opportunities are endless and there for you to take! Information meetings start on January 28th and run until April 18th. Meetings are Tuesdays 3:30- 4:30 PM and Thursdays 10:00 – 11:00 AM in Salazar 1070.
Volunteer Abroad in Africa!
Want to get involved with a volunteer opportunity in Africa this summer? The nonprofit organization One Heart Source is accepting applications on a rolling basis until all positions are filled for programs that are 4-weeks and 6-weeks long. Live abroad with a host family and teach in the local school of the village in which you’ll be living. It is a great way to accumulate international volunteer experience as well as participate in a cause that changes lives of little ones.

Coffee and Culture Meetings!
Join us at our weekly Coffee and Culture Meetings! IEEC holds Coffee and Culture every Thursday from 12 – 1 PM. What is coffee and Culture you may ask? Coffee and Culture is a weekly event where we get together and share cultures, life experiences and just a place to hang out. We always meet in Salzar 1070. For more information on activities and themes of each meeting, join the Facebook event!
IEEC will be going on many trips this semester including, (but not limited to!); a Warriors game, Barrel Tasting, Dollar Day at Golden Gate Fields, and a Giants game. More information on these trips will be available later in the semester.
