International Services Name Change
International Services is very excited for our big move soon to the new International Hall (the former Student Union.) So excited that we have already changed our Facebook name to match the new office name: SSU Center for International Education. The URL for our Facebook page has also changed to www.facebook.com/SSUCenterforInternationalEducation.
CSU IP Late Application Deadline
Did you miss the December 15th deadline to study abroad through CSU International Programs for the 2014-15 Academic Year? Have no fear! You can still do a late application! Some CSU IP locations still have space and will be accepting late applications from qualified applicants. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY MARCH 14TH!
Here is the list of program locations that will be accepting late applications:
• France (Aix & Paris)
• Spain (Granada & Madrid)
Be sure to research the requirements for each program on the official CSU IP page:http://calstate.edu/ip/programs/programs.shtml

IEEC Goes To The Vagina Monologues Show
This is an amazing empowering show where you will learn about diverse stories of women and you will educate yourself on global perspectives. IEEC will be attending on March 7th at 7pm. We will meet at 6:15pm in front of Salazar. Join the Facebook event so we can know who is going!

German Cultural Studies Major
This Wednesday, March 5, Michaela Grobbel will present an info session about the new interdisciplinary special major in German Cultural Studies. She will explain the program and what career opportunities may open up for you! She will also talk about the two tracks, one being if you study abroad, your year abroad will count as one of your four years towards the B.A!

Are you interested in applying for Australia or South Africa? The Spring 2015 priority deadline for CSU IP Australia and South Africa is April 15th and a final deadline of May 1st! Study Abroad and NSE Informational Meetings
Are you interested in studying away from Sonoma State in the future? Come to an informational meeting to learn everything you need to know! The first step for any program is attending one of our Study Abroad & NSE Information Meetings. We hold information meetings three times each week at various times. You can call the number below or stop by International Services in Salazar 1070 across from Seawolf Services to sign-up. Advanced sign-up is required!
They are offered every week at the following times in Salazar 1070:

Gilman Scholarship Program Accepting Applications Now! DUE MARCH 4th!
Are you receiving the Pell Grant? Get more scholarship money to help with studying abroad! This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide. The Gilman Scholarship Program is open to U.S. citizen undergraduate students who are planning to study and intern abroad. The program aims to diversify the kinds of students who study and intern abroad and the countries and regions where they go by supporting undergraduates who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints. The online application for Summer 2014 and Fall 2014/Academic Year 2014-2015 study and intern abroad programs is now open. The deadline to submit your application is March 4, 2014 by 11:59pm CST. Come in and visit the WIVA Programs Assistant to find out how you can get abroad. The opportunities are endless and there for you to take! Join us at our weekly Coffee and Culture Meetings! We are having our second meeting this week! IEEC holds Coffee and Culture every Thursday from 12 – 1 PM. What is coffee and Culture you may ask? Coffee and Culture is a weekly event where we get together and share cultures, life experiences and just a place to hang out. We always meet in Salazar 1070. IEEC Mentor Program
Do you want to connect with other SSU students who are as internationally minded as yourself? Would you like to gain a global perspective on your academic area? Do you need to practice your English with a native speaker? Would you like to gain more fluency in another language besides English through conversational exchange? Check out the IEEC Mentor Program! The IEEC Mentor Program this spring 2014 will pair up Alumni with a student who is going through the anxious process of applying and waiting for acceptance letters! Who wouldn’t want a little more help in such an exciting time? As a mentor you would meet with the students and answer any location specific questions they may have, aide in pre-departure meetings and participate in IEEC or SSU activities with them! You may also be paired up with an international or National Student Exchange student to help them get acclimated to life at SSU! Fill out the easy application on Facebook!
IEEC Warriors VS Grizzlies NBA Basketball Game
Join IEEC on March 28th to go see the Bay Area’s own Golden State Warriors take on the resurgent Memphis Grizzlies! Watch the Bay Area’s star point guard, Stephen Curry, lead the Warriors in a showdown against the dominant defense of Marc Gasol and Mike Conley. Bring your Warrior’s jerseys and enjoy two of the most exciting teams in basketball! Its also Local Heroes Night at Oracle Arena, so we each get a commemorative t-shirt in addition to a great show! The tickets are $40 per person (these seats usually go for up to $50!, this also covers reimbursement to drivers for gas and parking. Come down to International Services in Salazar 1070 (across from Seawolf Services) to sign-up and pay! The final deadline to sign-up is Tuesday, February 25th and tickets are limited so hurry in to be a part of the fun! For more information join the Facebook event!
