The Go Global! Study & Work Abroad Fair is next week!
October 7th, the Center for International Education will be holding their annual Go Global! Study and Work Abroad Fair. Over 30 programs will be at the fair informing students about their study, work, intern, volunteer or teaching abroad opportunities. During the fair, we will be having a passport activity where each person who attends the fair will receive our Go Global! Passport and get the chance to win a prize!! Deadline to Sign- Up for Jack London State Park Hike Approaching!
October 3rd is the last day to sign up for the IEEC Hikes Jack London State Park that is this Sunday, October 5th!! Come into the Center for International Education to sign-up! Also, bring $4 to help pay for gas and parking. We will be meeting on Sunday at 9 AM by the flagpole to carpool.

Study Abroad & NSE Information Meetings are continuing!
Are you interested in studying away from Sonoma State University in the future? Come to an informational meeting to learn everything you need to know! The first step for any program is attending one of our Study Abroad & NSE Information Meetings. We hold information meetings four times each week at various times. You can call the number below or stop by the Center for International Education in International Hall to sign-up. Advanced sign-up is required!
They are offered every week at the following times in International Hall 107:
MONDAYS @ 11-12pm
TUESDAYS @ 3-4pm
WEDNESDAYS @ 3-4pm
How can you use your German in your future career?
The German Program at San Francisco State will be holding a German Career Day on: October 7th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Representatives of German-American companies will address the following:
- Which German companies are located in the Bay Area?
- What kind of educational background is necessary to work for a German or international company?
- Which fields of study should be taken in combination with German?
- What are the advantages of studying German?
Company representatives of companies will provide information about specific training and career opportunities – and describe their ideal candidates. Alumni from (Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange) and other exchange programs who studied and worked in Germany will share their experiences. Furthermore, the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Program) will inform participants about university programs and scholarships for American students who wish to study in Germany.
You can also join in on the video contest “Award of Excellence” and get the chance to win a trip to Germany! There will be a musical performance by electropop artist Dyko from Germany! The event is also catered.

CLS- Critical Language Scholarship Program!
The U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce the opening of the scholarship competition for the 2015 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program in thirteen critical foreign languages. The CLS Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It is a fully-funded overseas language program for American undergraduate and graduate students. With the goal of broadening the base of Americans studying and mastering critical languages and to build relationships between the people of the United States and other countries, CLS provides study opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the United States at every level of language learning.The thirteen CLS languages are: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu.
Applications will be due November 12, 2014 by 8:00 pm EST.

WIVA Information Meetings Have Started!!!!!
Are you interested in working, interning, volunteering, or teaching abroad? The Center for International Education has hired someone to help you! Come in and visit the WIVA Programs Assistant to find out how you can get abroad. The opportunities are endless and there for you to take! Join us at our weekly Coffee and Culture Meetings! We are having our second meeting this week! IEEC holds Coffee and Culture every Thursday from 12 – 1 PM. What is coffee and Culture you may ask? Coffee and Culture is a weekly event where we get together and share cultures, life experiences and just a place to hang out. We always meet in International Hall 107. What’s Going on at Sonoma State University?
Vagina Monologue Auditions
Vagina Monologue Auditions will be until Friday October 3rd. the Vagina Monologues is a performance that is held every year at Sonoma State University and helps to promote V-DAY which is a nonprofit organization aiming to raise awareness for gender violence. No prior acting experience is required so come help raise awareness and join fellow Sonoma State University students in this great event.
Auditions are held at The HUB, located on the 2nd floor of the Student Center.
Wednesday October 1st at 2:30- 5:20 pm.
Thursday October 2nd at 9- 10:30 am & 3:15- 6:30 pm
Friday October 3rd at 10 am- 3 pm

Green Music Center

Campus Movie Fest
October 2- October 10
Campus Movie Fest is the world’s largest student film festival and a premier outlet for the next generation of filmmakers. Students get the chance to enter into the contest, attain the proper equipment and make their own short film. The contestants get to go to a red carpet event where their film will be shown at Green Music Center on the night of October 10. For more information, check out the link below!
