February is all about NSE! There are over 200 study away options offered through the National Student Exchange. Come to an information meeting and learn how to study in a different state, or in a different country!

Study Abroad Informational Meetings are Happening Now!

Interested in studying in another country or another state? Your first step is to come to an info meeting! Come sign- up in the Center for International Education. The information meetings start on January 26th and run till April 29th. Meeting Days and Times: MONDAYS @ 3:00- 4:00 PM TUESDAYS @ 10:00- 11:00 AM WEDNESDAYS @ 1:00- 2:00 PM THURSDAYS @ 3:00 PM- 4:00 PM

NSE Application Workshop Meetings are Happening Now!

The National Student Exchange Application Workshops will begin on January 26th. If you have already attended an info meeting and a 1-on-1 meeting with Hope, come in and sign up for a workshop! This is a mandatory meeting in the application process so make sure you come in to the Center for International Education to sign up! The Workshops will help out with any questions you have about the application process for NSE domestic and NSE study abroad programs! Meeting Days and Times: MONDAYS @  11:00- 12:00 PM TUESDAYS @ 3:00- 4:00 PM THURSDAYS @ 11:00- 12:00 PM line


Gilman Summer Program Scholarships

Gilman The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented internships abroad. Such international exchange is intended to better prepare U.S. students to assume significant roles in an increasingly global economy and interdependent world. For programs beginning in Summer or Fall of 2015, application deadline will be on March 3. Go to http://www.iie.org/Programs/Gilman-Scholarship-Program for more information.

Boren Awards and Scholarships


The applications for the 2015-2016 Boren Scholarships and Fellowships are now available at www.borenawards.org. Deadline is February 4th 2015. Boren Awards, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East, where they can add important international and language components to their educations. SSU students that have any questions about this program, or require assistance with the application process, please come visit Ihssan Osman, WIVA Programs Assistant, International Hall 107 or email her at: wiva@sonoma.edu.

The Killam Undergraduate Fellowships for Americans

The Killam Fellowships Program provides an opportunity for exceptional undergraduate students from universities in the United States to spend either one semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in Canada. The Killam Fellowships Program provides a cash award of $5,000 US per semester ($10,000 for a full academic year), and includes a three day orientation in Ottawa, and a three day spring seminar in Washington. Deadline is February 15. For more information go to killamfellowships.com

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

german exchange The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) invites highly qualified undergraduate students to apply for scholarships funding study, senior thesis research and/or internships in Germany. The goal of this program is to support study abroad in Germany and at German universities. Preference will be given to students whose projects or programs are based at and organized by a German university. Scholarships are available either as part of an organized study abroad program or as part of an individual, student-designed study abroad semester or year. Coffee and Culture Meetings

Join us at our weekly Coffee and Culture Meetings! We are having our first meeting this week!  IEEC holds Coffee and Culture every Thursday from 12 – 1 PM. What is coffee and Culture you may ask? Coffee and Culture is a weekly event where we get together and share cultures, life experiences and just a place to hang out. We always meet in International Hall 107. Heroines at Person Theatre

Heroine Steampunk Heroines will be the newest piece to take the stage at Evert B. Person Theatre. The steampunk-style production tells the story of women from different time periods and places who are struggling with the troubles life brings. Heroines focuses on an explosive period in musical history at the turn of the 20th century, when women weren’t just fighting for the vote – they wanted to be bad.
