Photo Contest

This past Thursday September 3, we welcomed back last year’s study away participants as well as the new international and exchange students at SSU. Over 30 students attended and enjoyed refreshments, chatting with other study away students, and voting in the photo contest! We now have the results of the photo contest and we ask that if you are a winner to please come to the CIE office to pick up your prize!!! Thank you to everyone that participated in this event and photo contest, and we hope to see many more beautiful photos in future contests! GO GLOBAL! STUDY AND WORK ABROAD FAIR

Join us at this year’s annual Go Global! Study & Work Abroad Fair hosted by the SSU Center for International Education on Thursday, September 24th 10AM – 2PM in Salazar Quad!

 IEEC Goes to Open Mic Night at Lobo’s

Join the International Education Exchange Council for dinner and drinks at Lobo’s on Wednesday, September 16th! We will be meeting in front of the International Hall at 7:15pm and walking over to Lobo’s together at 7:30pm. We will eat dinner together and stay for the Open Mic Night show! You can sign up to perform a song, poem, dance, etc. or just sit back, relax and watch the show. If you want to perform, sign ups begin at 7:30pm. You can perform whatever you want! Otherwise, the show begins at 8pm and everyone is invited to come watch! We hope to see you there! Join our Facebook event by clicking on the link below!

Study Abroad Informational Meetings are Happening Now!

Interested in studying in another country or another state? Your first step is to come to an Info Meeting! Come sign- up in the Center for International Education. The meetings start on Monday, August 31st.
Meeting Days and Times:
MONDAYS @ 3:00- 4:00 PM
TUESDAYS @ 3:00 PM- 4:00 PM
WEDNESDAYS @ 1:00- 2:00 PM
THURSDAYS @ 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM

Classroom Presentations

If you are a professor or a student who would like their class to learn more about different opportunities to study away, you can request a classroom presentation! All of our Go Global Ambassadors are either study abroad alumni, international students or NSE students and would love to talk about their experiences! Click here to request a presentation and allow at least one week ahead of time before the day of the presentation.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

SIT Study Abroad Scholarships

SIT Study Abroad is committed to increasing access to international education and to ensuring you have the information you need to successfully access funding for your study abroad program with us. We offer a broad range of scholarships and grants, including our award winning Pell Grant Match. Scholarship awards generally range from $500 to $5,000. For Programs beginning in the Spring the deadline is November 1st. For programs beginning in Summer 2015, application deadline will be on April 1; Fall 2015 program deadlines are May 15. Go to http://studyabroad.sit.edu/pn/prospective-students/scholarships-and-financial-aid/ for more information.

WORK, INTERN, VOLUNTEER ABROAD (WIVA)

WIVA Are you interested in working, interning, volunteering, or teaching abroad? The Center for International Education has hired someone to help you! Come in and visit the WIVA Programs Assistant to find out how you can get abroad. The opportunities are endless and there for you to take! We will be starting information meetings on Monday September 28th and will run through October 14th.

Peace Corps

Come to a Peace Corps Info Meeting!

Peace Corps will be visiting the SSU campus a few times this semester so you can get more information on applying to this incredible program! Below are the dates a representative will be on campus as well as special info meeting times. The first one is on Wednesday, September 23 – Tabling 11 – 1PM with an Info Meeting in IH 106 from 4-5pm. Peace Corps will also be at the annual Go Global! Study & Work Abroad Fair on Sept. 24 (see above!)

Coffee and Culture Meetings

Join us at our weekly Coffee and Culture Meetings! IEEC holds Coffee and Culture every Thursday from 12 – 1 PM. What is Coffee and Culture you may ask? Coffee and Culture is a weekly event where we get together and share cultures, life experiences and just a place to hang out. We always meet in International Hall 107. For more information on activities and themes of each meeting, join the IEEC Facebook page.

Our first meeting will be Thursday, September 10th! Come hang out for some good conversation, delicious refreshments and a special Sonoma theme.
