We will be continuing with out mentor program this semester. This program will connect students of all types. Whether an international student, study away applicant, or have just returned from time away, it is a great way to meet new people and share experiences. Barrel Tasting

wineJoin IEEC as we take part in the BIGGEST event in all of Sonoma County, the Wineroad Barrel Tasting tours! We will be providing FREE transportation on Saturday, March 5th, for all IEEC members who sign up in the Center for International Education; however you must purchase your ticket on your own. This is a 21 years or older event! For more information please visit the event page and come into IH 107!

Coffee and Culture

We had a lot of fun learning about and celebrating the Lunar New Year at Coffee and Culture last week. There were fun activities and great snacks! What an awesome opportunity to share this culture.

NSE Application Workshops have started! Please come into the office to sign up and start the next step in your Study Abroad process.

Study Abroad Informational Meetings are Happening Now!

Interested in studying in another country or another state? Your first step is to come to an Info Meeting! Come sign-up in the Center for International Education for the time that works best for you!
Meeting Days and Times:
MONDAYS @ 3:00- 4:00 PM
TUESDAYS @ 3:00 PM- 4:00 PM
WEDNESDAYS @ 1:00- 2:00 PM
THURSDAYS @ 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM

There will also be people out tabling for NSE all month so stop by to say hi and get more information on our great programs!

Classroom Presentations

If you are a professor or a student who would like their class to learn more about different study away opportunities, you can request a classroom presentation! All of our Go Global Ambassadors are either study abroad alumni, international students or NSE students and would love to talk about their experiences! Click here to request a presentation and allow at least one week ahead of time before the day of the presentation.

Come meet with the Study Away Coordinator: Hope now has drop-in hours!

Stop by the Center for International Education on Wednesdays from 12-1 if you would like to talk to Hope about any questions or concerns. No appointment necessary!

International Students

Meet with the International Students Coordinator

Becky Petrow will have walk in hours on Mondays and Tuesdays from 1-3 and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10-12 if you have any questions or things to discuss.

Need a Car?

 

Sonoma State is now providing Zipcar services to students. This allows students to reserve a vehicle through the app and use the provided vehicles when needed. Internatizipcar-instructionsonal students are also qualified to participate in the program. Follow this link for more information and to get started on using this service!

SSALI (Sonoma State American Language Institute) is looking for conversation partners!! Do you want to meet international students on campus and help them improve their English? You can come by our office (International Hall 107) to fill out the simple form!

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

SIT Study Abroad Scholarships

SIT Study Abroad is committed to increasing access to international education and to ensuring you have the information you need to successfully access funding for your study abroad program with us. We offer a broad range of scholarships and grants, including our award winning Pell Grant Match. Scholarship awards generally range from $500 to $5,000. For programs beginning in Summer 2015, application deadline will be on April 1; Fall 2015 program deadlines are May 15. Go to http://studyabroad.sit.edu/pn/prospective-students/scholarships-and-financial-aid/ for more information.

IRELAND SCHOLARSHIP

irelandAre you planning on studying in Ireland? Gooverseas.com is sponsoring a scholarship for both undergraduate and graduate programs. The scholarship includes roundtrip flight, accommodation expenses, and $15,000 toward tuition. The deadline is March 4th so apply now to give yourself the best chance possible!

WORK, INTERN, VOLUNTEER ABROAD (WIVA)

WIVAAre you interested in working, interning, volunteering, or teaching abroad? The Center for International Education has hired someone to help you! Come in and visit the WIVA Programs Assistant to find out how you can get abroad. The opportunities are endless and there for you to take! Join us at our weekly Coffee and Culture Meetings! IEEC holds Coffee and Culture every Thursday from 12 – 1 PM. What is Coffee and Culture you may ask? Coffee and Culture is a weekly event where we get together and share cultures, life experiences and just a place to hang out. We always meet in International Hall 107.
