This week in the Center for International Education…

There’s lots going on now that the school year is in full swing! First up: new Scholarship if you are interested in studying abroad in NEW ZEALAND! Check out the scholarship section below for more information. Second up: if you have recently returned from studying away and abroad we are having our Returnee Workshop this Friday @3pm to answer all your questions about returning back to SSU!

Congratulations to our UK study abroad alumna Kaitlin Tucker for winning our IEEC Welcome Reception Photo Contest! Check out her incredible photo featured above of The Seljalandsfoss waterfall in Iceland to get a little taste of the spectacular natural beauty of the country.

This photo to the right taken in Chefchaouen, Morocco Spain study abroad alumna Rosa Serrato, who won second place in our Welcome Reception Photo Contest! Through this photo, Rosa captured the amazing colors and vibrant culture that can be found in Morocco.

 

Returnee Workshop

Welcome back! If you studied away or abroad this last year then this is the workshop for YOU! Do you have questions about transcripts? Transferring courses?  We will also talk about ways to help with your transition back to the US! Join us Friday, September 16th @3pm in International Hall 107 for all the answers.

NSE Application Workshops are continuing and applications are still being accepted! It’s never to late to apply! Please come into the office to sign up and start the next step in your study away process.

Study Abroad Informational Meetings are Happening Now!

Interested in studying in another country or another state? Your first step is to come to an Info Meeting! Come sign-up in the Center for International Education for the time that works best for you!
Meeting Days and Times:
MONDAYS @ 3:00- 4:00 PM
TUESDAYS @ 3:00 PM- 4:00 PM
WEDNESDAYS @ 11:00- 12:00 PM
THURSDAYS @ 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM

Classroom Presentations

If you are a professor or a student who would like their class to learn more about different study away opportunities, you can request a classroom presentation! All of our Go Global Ambassadors are either study abroad alumni, international students or NSE students and would love to talk about their experiences! Click here to request a presentation and allow at least one week ahead of time before the day of the presentation.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

 Need a Car?

Sonoma State is now providing Zipcar services to students. This allows students to reserve a vehicle through the app and use the provided vehicles when needed. Internatizipcar-instructionsonal students are also qualified to participate in the program. Follow this link for more information and to get started on using this service!

Coffee and Culture Meetings

Join us at our weekly Coffee and Culture Meetings! IEEC holds Coffee and Culture every Thursday from 12 – 1 PM. What is Coffee and Culture you may ask? Coffee and Culture is a weekly event where we get together and share cultures, life experiences and just a place to hang out. We always meet in International Hall 107. For more information on activities and themes of each meeting, join the IEEC Facebook page.

This week’s Coffee and Culture is themed Around the World! We will be talking all things global, and enjoying various treats and snacks from different parts of the world. Come out and try them for yourself!coffee-map
