This week in the Center for International Education…
It’s hot in Sonoma County this week and we have information about some fun and exciting events going on that can help you take your mind off of the heat! First up: ASP’s Howl at the Moon is SSU’s first outside concert of the year this Thursday, September 22nd at 10:00pm. Second up: JUMP is holding info meetings starting this Wednesday about Alternative Breaks. Check below in “Featured” for more details.
Meet our new Student Ambassadors!
Who are the Student Ambassadors you may ask?
This group of students are all passionate about studying away and abroad and have joined our CIE community to share their experiences with you! Each of our Ambassadors have studied away or are currently on exchange at Sonoma State University. They are dedicated to answering questions, sharing their stories from away, and helping students make the most out of their college experience. ASP Presents: Howl at the Moon
This Thursday, September 22nd at 10:00pm, come out to the Seawolf Plaza to dance and Howl at the Moon with featured guest performer Black Perez! Tickets are free and available for pick up at the info desk in the Student Center. Hurry and get your tickets because they’re going fast!
Alternative Break – Info Meeting
Have any plans for Spring Break? This year the social issues you can work with are: Food Justice, Creating Healthier Communities, Working Through Transition, and Survivors, Spaces, and Advocacy. If you are interested in spending your next break on a service-learning trip make your way to the Erin Fisher Room, 2nd Floor Student Center for one of their info meetings. NATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE
NSE Application Workshops are continuing and applications are still being accepted! It’s never to late to apply! Please come into the office to sign up and start the next step in your study away process.
Study Abroad Informational Meetings are Happening Now!
Interested in studying in another country or another state? Your first step is to come to an Info Meeting! Come sign-up in the Center for International Education for the time that works best for you!

If you are a professor or a student who would like their class to learn more about different study away opportunities, you can request a classroom presentation! All of our Go Global Ambassadors are either study abroad alumni, international students or NSE students and would love to talk about their experiences! Click here to request a presentation and allow at least one week ahead of time before the day of the presentation.

Need a Car?
Sonoma State is now providing Zipcar services to students. This allows students to reserve a vehicle through the app and use the provided vehicles when needed. International students are also qualified to participate in the program. Follow this link for more information and to get started on using this service!

Coffee and Culture Meetings
Join us at our weekly Coffee and Culture Meetings! IEEC holds Coffee and Culture every Thursday from 12 – 1 PM. What is Coffee and Culture you may ask? Coffee and Culture is a weekly event where we get together and share cultures, life experiences and just a place to hang out. We always meet in International Hall 107. For more information on activities and themes of each meeting, join the IEEC Facebook page.
At this week’s Coffee and Culture we are celebrating National Elephant Appreciation Day! These incredibly smart and larger than life animals are fascinating to many around the world, including us in the CIE office! We hope you are just as excited, as we might even have some fun elephant themed giveaways. Come join us this Thursday to appreciate all things elephant.
